Why I started blogging and why you should start blogging

It's all about holding onto these memories and feelings so that you can go back later in life and reflect on all that you have done. I keep my personal stories off of the public blog but I still have them in my journal because I never want to forget some of them. If you don't write memories down you will forget about them, especially the small ones. 5 years from now I am probably not going to remember that night in the August where I laid on my back at the beach, stared at the stars, smoked a Churchill and forgot about all life as it was. It was one of my favorite moments from the summer and it is something I will never forget because I have it written down in my journal.

People know a lot about my life and I feel like that is a good thing, I always try to stress that no one is alone in this fight and just knowing that can be good enough for some. If you don't want to go through the effort of starting a blog, then juts pick up a journal and write your thoughts, because why not, you will thank yourself in the future.

I started blogging in July of 2021 because I was bored and school was over so I did not have much else to do with my free time besides work at the Pelham House. I did not know what I was doing and most of my blogs were short 1 minute reads with very little thought going into them. Still, even at that point in my life I felt as if I was doing something that was bigger than me. Posting something on my website before going off and tackling the day gave me a sense of fulfillment and joy. It can be through inner peace or from other people telling you how much you mean to them.

Blogging is not for everyone, you need to feel like you have a different grasp on the world then everyone else and talk about yourself without being arrogant If you have a story, share it. While blogging might not be for everyone, writing certainly is. Anyone can write and everyone should write. Someone a few weeks back asked me why I write and I said that it was my own form of therapy. I might not always want to do it but I always feel good after doing it. You want to leave something behind in this fast paced world or you will be forgotten. A few journals will do just fine.
