Never take your physical ability for granted

As I have talked about a million times before, I had knee surgery almost a year ago last October, it is partly what contributed to me becoming the person I am today. I wrote this in my "journal" about a month after my surgery, "A month and a half ago I was recovering from surgery. I had been home for about three days. The first day and night was not that bad, then the second day and night hit me. I could not move my leg at all when stationary and I had to drag it everywhere on crutches. This is not a pity party for myself, I am aware that for most knee surgeries this is normal for everyone. I could not take a step without excruciating pain running up my leg, it was horrible for about two weeks. During this time it gave me a chance to reflect and all I longed for was the ability to go run a mile or go for a walk. Nobody wants to work out, it is hard and often painful, but you never realize how good it feels till you can’t do it anymore."

I probably should read this short entry more often because right now, my opinion on working out is that it sucks. I hate it and what is even worse than working out is eating super healthy. But it is essential, I am starting to get back on that track now and I feel great because of my efforts. Even just a simple 40 minute body weight workout in the morning before class will make you feel like a million bucks for the rest of the day. But even just starting a new voyage into the working out world is difficult. You have to set a goal and tell yourself that you will stick to it.

Always make sure that you are working out for the right reasons. Remember that no matter how hard and often you workout, chances are that you are not going to look like Michael B. Jordan. It's just a fact. Your goal going into working out should be trying to improve your mental state of mind more than your physical.

But at the end of the day, I can not tell you what to do and you need to do what makes you happiest. If not working out makes you happy then do that. It is all finding what works best for you.
